The following training is a Primary Program presented by LearningDisabilities.com. It is THE Basic and Definitive Workshop, which will allow a “TUTOR” to understand and train the elements necessary for good reading and spelling FOR ANYONE, BUT ESPECIALLY FOR THOSE WITH READING DISABILITIES/DISORDERS. I.  Preparing the Brain for Learning to Read and Spell Efficiently and Effectively

II.  Getting started with the *Lindamood®* Phoneme Sequencing Program for Reading, Spelling and Speech-Third Edition (LiPS®* ) and;

III.  Bell’s®* Visualizing and Verbalizing for Language Comprehension and Thinking (V/V) and;

IV.  How to implement the Socratic Method of instruction along with;

V.  A myriad of other wonderfully successful meta-cognitive treatment tools the Kurtz Center found or developed and Gail and Denton Kurtz continue through LearningDisabilities.com.

When these approaches are done with precision, they will train the brain to improve Attention Focus, Auditory and Visual Active Working and Sequential Memory, Rhythmicity, Phonetic Reading, Reading “Sight” Word Memorization, Spelling Word Memorization, Listening and Reading Comprehension, Oral and Written Expression, Memory for Vocabulary and Critical Thinking.

When is this training?  We will tailor make this for you and/or your group. CALL TO PLAN TRAINING – Maximum of 12.  Divide # of trainees into $7000.00 for individual cost, e.g., 10 trainees = $700.00 per person for 40 hours of training.

Usual time 8:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. – 40 hours Lunch – 12:30 p.m. – 1:30 p.m.

Who: Preschool through College Educators, Exceptional Child/Special Educators, Speech, Language and Hearing Professionals, Teacher Trainers, Clinic Directors, Principals, Resource Specialists and Program Coordinators, Parents who do not have any of the handicapping conditions which are to be remedied or others who will be aiding or tutoring those with the various reading disorders.

What: LEVEL ONE of three levels — Pre-K – 2nd grade Multi-sensory Training of Pre-Phonics skills, Phonological and Phonemic Awareness skills and other Basic Phonics skills with special emphasis on Oral-Motor and language training, the keys to overcoming Dyslexia. – FIRST THREE DAYS (M-W).

AND — Early Listening Comprehension; Early Vocabulary building skills and Early Spoken and Written Expression. – LAST TWO DAYS (Th-F).

THIS TRAINING IS ESSENTIAL FOR ALL PERSONS INTERESTED IN UNDERSTANDING SUCCESSFUL TREATMENT OF ANY AGED PERSON WHO HAS LANGUAGE LEARNING DISABILITIES.  Those of:  Basic Reading, Reading Comprehension, Listening Comprehension, Oral and Written Expression, Long-term Memory and High Order Thinking Skills.

The Kurtzes will provide extensive foundational meta-cognitive training for professionals in the assessment and implementation of pre-reading & spelling skills. The workshop is very practical. It is experiential with emphasis on phonological awareness development through the oral motor / feel components of sounds (Motor Processing); sound segmentation and blending (Auditory); symbol (letter and word) imagery, sight memory development (Visual); and imagery for receptive language (listening and reading) for reading and language comprehension (Language). This training is especially appropriate for those persons working with students / clients in the Pre-K through 2ndgrade range. The specialized meta-cognitive training is based upon, but not limited to, the Lindamood Phonemic Sequencing Program for Reading, Spelling, and Speech – Third Edition (LiPS®*)*; formerly A.D.D®.; the Visualizing and Verbalizing for Language Comprehension and Thinking® (V/V) program by Bell*; Easing into Reading by Smith; and the Networking Between Modalities program by Denton Kurtz.
